School Vision Statement

St Cuthbert’s CofE Junior School Vision Statement

Empowering a diverse community, united by Christ, to achieve excellence in education with a heart for students.’

Roots to grow,

Wings to fly

St Cuthbert was one of the first naturalists and spent time protecting and caring for the birds, nature and environment around him

St Cuthbert’s CofE Junior School Christian Vision

We view our school as the rich soil in which strong roots are formed so that all of our children can flourish.

To create a happy, caring and secure atmosphere where every child and member of staff feels valued.

To provide all our children with knowledge, perseverance and the imagination to develop their God-given talents and achieve their full academic potential in order to lead happy, fulfilling and considerate lives.

To promote in our children the desire to contribute positively to their school, their local community and their church, both now and in the years to come.

To create confident and responsible young people who have developed a spirit of adventure and enquiry so that they may meet the opportunities and challenges in our changing society.

The Vision Explained

The parable of the mustard seed is a key passage that reflects so much of our school vision and ‘Roots to grow Wings to fly’.

‘Roots to grow Wings to fly’ is a metaphor for our children, who blossom during their time at St Cuthbert’s ready for the next stage of their journey. Each child is nurtured here and enabled to flourish through our teaching and care.

We treat every child with the dignity and respect they deserve as children of God. Each child is like a mustard seed, and each child grows in our school community and is supported by that same school community.

We share God’s love through the way we conduct ourselves, learning from Jesus’ teachings and the life of St Cuthbert. We aim to give our pupils the best start, preparing them for their secondary education and their role in modern British society.

  Our School Christian Values

Humility

St Cuthbert was very humble and we can recognise that humble children who possess both confidence and feel gratitude are more likely to work toward the welfare of others.

Compassion

Throughout the four years that children are with us, we encourage them to show compassion to others through

various acts of kindness.

Forgiveness

At St Cuthbert’s, we forgive without limits. Everyone makes mistakes, it’s part of being human. Sometimes our mistakes hurt someone else, we can also be hurt ourselves. When this happens we need to forgive, to accept an apology that is really meant. When we forgive, we are able to move forward and have a fresh start.

Hope

Hope is not always easy but we give our children all of the tools needed to develop qualities such as determination and commitment to promote hope.

Peace

We promote a place of harmony between people, harmony between people and God.

Endurance

Endurance is the special gift that we have when life is difficult or painful that helps us not to give up. At St Cuthbert’s, we teach our children the skills to develop endurance in all aspects of their lives.
