Dear Parent/Carer
Mrs Cooper and Mrs Mullinger are committed to ensuring there is as much consistency between both schools as possible. Both schools have discussed how we move forward following the changes to Covid rules nationally.
Our priority is to ensure that children, parents and staff are as safe as possible. Recently, the government has changed the status of its advice – moving from isolation being a statutory requirement to it being guidance.
We currently have only a few cases of Covid in school and in order for this to continue we are going to ask that everyone continue with the same procedures that we followed last term.
We are therefore asking those children that test positive to follow the same course of action that they would have undertaken last term:
· Remain away from school for the first 5 days after a positive test
· From Day 5 onwards, children can test again and if they have two negative tests within 24 hours, they may return to school if they feel well enough to do so
· After Day 10, children may return to school, even if the tests remain positive as they are no longer regarded as infectious.
· If a family member the child lives with tests positive, as long as your child is well and is showing no symptoms and tests negative on lateral flow tests then they will be able to attend school as normal.
The government will no longer be providing free test kits to school and I understand that this may cause an issue in due course. It is still possible to order LFT kits online via the government’s website. We are hoping that the need for taking tests will not be needed in the near future but until then we need to stay as vigilant as possible in order to keep everyone safe.
If you need further information or clarification, please do not hesitate to contact school and we will be happy to help.
With kindest regards
Mrs Helen Mullinger Mrs Sheryl Cooper
