Dear Parents and Carers,
It never fails to amaze me what wonderful children we have. Two girls have come to me with some fantastic ideas of how to support children in school as well as people in the local community.
Wells Foodbank Donations
Abbie in Year 5 has asked if we can have make more than one donation a year to Wells Foodbank. She thought it would be a great idea if we could arrange a non-uniform day and instead of paying money, parents could donate a selection box. Selection boxes would be a lovely treat for the food bank to give to people who need extra support, especially over Christmas time.
Abbie also thought we could have a food collection, similar to what we do at harvest time. We have got suggestions that we would like each class to bring in if possible but also to just donate what you can.
Donation suggestions
Rockies ~ Tea, Coffee, hot chocolate, cold drinks
Himalayas ~ Tea, Coffee, hot chocolate, cold drinks
Snowdon ~ Pasta, Rice, bread
Alps ~ Pasta, Rice, bread
Atlas ~ Biscuits
Pyrenees ~ Biscuits
Non – uniform day will be on Friday 26th November.
Please bring a donation of a selection box to take part.
Food donations will need to be in school for Friday 3rd December and we will incorporate this into the Friday celebration assembly.
We will send out a reminder the week beforehand so you don’t forget.
Friendship Bench
Lola in Year 6 has noticed that sometimes children have no one to play with at break time. She has thought of a great idea of raising money to buy a special friendship bench. Lola’s dad has also very kindly offered his support and has said that he will come in and paint it for us.
We have decided that we are going to do sponsored fun run in January to raise the money to buy the bench. Hopefully the weather will be kind to us. Watch out after Christmas for more details about this.
We hope that you can support the children to make a difference to both our children and children in the wider community.
With kindest regards,
Helen Mullinger
