Dear Parents/Carers,
Work has started to refurbish the outside area between the infant and junior schools. As you are aware, the path going between both schools has not been accessible for a long time due to the health and safety risk posed by uneven paving stones.
We plan to take down the wooden fence and tarmac the area up to the metal fence which borders the infant site.
The workmen are going to replace all of the rotting wooden fencing that is currently in place and goes all the way along the path to the entrance at Shady Lane. This will be replaced by a metal fence. A new gate to give access to the junior school playground will also be fitted.
The work will require some heavy machinery to be brought onto school grounds and some of work will be very noisy. We have arranged for this to happen the week before February half term and the week of half term. It has been planned to overlap the holiday to reduce as much as possible, any disruption to the children’s learning due to noise.
The week before half term when fence posts are being fitted and tarmac is being laid, the school entrance and path at Shady Lane will have to be closed. Please be aware that you may need to set off for school a few minutes earlier that week as you will have to walk around through Bishopslea Close to enter through the main entrance.
If any dates change and we need to close the path we will do our best to inform you with plenty of notice.
This will only be for one week and we hope that the end result will make it all worthwhile!
With kindest regards,
Helen Mullinger Sheryl Cooper
